Earlens, a New Light-Driven Technology

Earlens, a New Light-Driven Technology

Towards the end of June 2016, local Otolaryngologist, Dr. Mark Loury and Audiologist, Dr. Natalie Phillips attended a training in Menlo Park, California to learn about a new, FDA-approved, light-driven amplification option. This “disruptive technology” is now available to hearing impaired patients.

This non-surgical device requires a close partnership between an Audiologist and Ear, Nose, and Throat physician. It is a technology that provides less feedback with increased gain or power as well as a wider frequency bandwidth that no other traditional hearing aid can provide. This means improved and more natural sound quality for patients. The Earlens device has been proven to show that 94% of people who have tried this technology are satisfied with the device compared to their current hearing aids. Patients also reported a more full, rich, and normal music and speech listening experience.
